Injury update
Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil star Neymar has given an update on his injury as he hopes to be fit for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
When the forward was origially injured at the end of February, there were some big fears.
Not only was the player expected to miss the rest of the season for Paris Saint-Germain, some feared he could also struggle to make the World Cup.
With much of Brazil’s hopes pinned on his form, that would have came as a huge blow to the nation who are looking to win their first World Cup since 2002.
Though, Brazilian football fans will be extremely relieved today as the player revealed on TV this week that he is close to being back.
Big boost
Speaking on Brazilian TV, cited by the Daily Mail, the player was asked how long he had left on his recovery.
Neymar responded by claiming ‘About a month, a month and a bit.’
‘The injury is progressing well, the fracture is consolidating fine, everything’s going okay,’ he continued.
That lines up well with what the Brazilian national team’s physical trainer, Fabio Mahseredian, had to say recently.
He claimed that Neymar’s attitude would ensure he would be back in time.
‘First, he’s an athlete that looks after himself,’ the trainer explained.
‘Secondly, he doesn’t have weight problems and doesn’t put on weight easily and that’s a very favourable factor.
‘Thirdly he’s a young person. The time he’s got is enough to make sure he’s ready for his country’s first World Cup game.’
